Handbrake Lite
A great app to take Dvds and rip them straight to a .mp4 format for your video iPod.

http://isquint.org/handbrakelite/

App Zapper- $12.95
Throwing away an application doesn't mean that all the files related to it are gone. This app makes sure all those little pesky files dissapear.

http://www.appzapper.com/

Awaken- $8.95
If your computer is in your room or you have times you need to remember. Its an all in one alarm clock that wakes you up to your selection of iTunes songs.

Adium
I don't suggest this app to take over iChat, but if you have more than just a AIM account I really suggest getting this app.

Candy Bar- $12.95
It's easy to change alot of icons, but there are many icons you can't change by hand. This lil' app allows you to change all those icons you don't like.

Cocktail- $14.95 TOP PICK
This is my personal top pick for OS X apps. This app will let you basically hack OS X. You will be able to view hidden files, clear system cache, change startup mode, and much more. Keeps your Apple running like new.

PopChar X- $29.99
Quite possibly one of the most used apps in my collection. Allows you to find characters that are not on the keyboard, so you don't have to memorize key commands.

Snap Pro X- $69
This is the newest of my applications, but this is better than any screen capture I have used yet. I know many of my friends swear by this program. A little pricey, but if you are in need of capturing screen video, this is your app.

Quicksilver
One of the most popular for Mac OS X. Why? It lets you easily open up any application, and open it fast. The newest versions offers much more. You definetly should download this.

Transmit 3- $29.95
If you are a web developer than this is a must have. One of the nicest FTP programs for the mac. The newsest version works with some of the iApps to bring you the best user expirence.

Textmate- $47.95
Becuase text edit just won't cut it, you should try out textmate. This is the closest you will come to word in a $47 app. Some may argue that it is actually better than Microsoft word.

Note:
I will add more applications soon, these are just my current top picks. Feel free to add more in comments so I can put them in the list.

I was going to add quicksilver, but I find it annoying sometimes. Thanks Josh I will add those tomorrow. And yes Unison has the wrong description, a paragraph and title got deleted, will fix that tomrrow.

I don't know how anyone can live without Quicksilver, Transmit & Textmate.

I agree, Transmit is the ultimate application, although I rarely use it due to Dreamweaver.

If you don't want to pay for FTP software, Cyberduck is a great alternative.

Nice list....having recently switched over to Mac's (best decision ever) i have been interested in the "need to have" programs.

                Mr. Jonny Pantz

Just recently bought an iMac and the first program I downloaded was Quicksilver. Love it. I keep catching myself hitting Control+Space on my PC at work all the time.

A very good lightweight bit torrent client is transmission, made by the same people who do handbreak.
